Cab driver tried to rip me off

Postby Mini_B » Fri Dec 01, 2006 3:05 am

Be careful of cab drivers in Roppongi shorting you on your change. A cabbie tried to rip me off the other night by folding the bills and...counting one of the them twice. I saw him do it and I couldn't believe that he was really trying to pull the old 'banana in the tailpipe'. I counted it myself sitting in his back seat and I told him that I saw what he did. I was so pissed that I forgot to write down his ID number. But I sat in his back seat until he gave me 1000 JPY. Lucky he caught me early that night.

Isn't that when you palm one yourself and say he actually short-changed you by 2 notes?

Just kidding. Getting the ID and reporting him would've been better.

Hmmm, smart trick! The cute cabbie's logic is that a drunk gaijin would not know how to complain properly to the taxi company or the police (and neither would have sympathy for a non-tourist gaijin).

The only honorable thing to do in that situation is to kill him and then kill yourself.

This is mostly why I now pay cabbies only in coinage. I carry around a huge coin purse/sack like below:

That tends to take care of any change swindling. :D

...soooo, you're an RPG character?

I'd hate to imagine how much 20,000 Gold would weight :D (luckily most RPGs don't take that into account)
