If you're in an apartment/mansion building, then this is how it is done. A fat pipe goes to the building, and each apartment gets 100mbits.

Not sure how the house/business setup works, but you might be able to get top speeds as long as you're willing to foot the bill.

Still can't complain. 100mb is still plenty fast.

Most PCs can't handle gigabit properly anyway since most PCs have their NICs on PCI and standard PCI is not capable of handling gigabit levels of performance effectively.

In any case, you are paying for a 100Mb net connection -- read the contract. (I'm assuming that you can't since you had to ask about this in the first place...) The line coming into your place is gigabit, but that is to be shared between the internet (100Mb), IP phone (multi-line capable), and cable TV.

Even if you directly connect your computer to the ONU it won't work for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that Hikari Premium is IPv6. The router they provide allows your IPv4 packets to be routed over the IPv6 Hikari Premium network.

Besides all of that though, wtf are you complaining about? Where else in the world can you get an unlimited 100Mb (up & down!) fibre connection for 5,000yen a month!?

my P5B onboard nic is 10/100/1000 so it should suport 1gigabit..and the ipv4>ipv6 thing should be able to be done by software..

well i think if i have a 1gb link i should be able to get 1gb on my computer

and the guy from the support told me some steps to try to use it without router but not always it works...so it's possible to use without a router...

and about those services...like tv or i don't how..how i use it?
