Any companies recruit Gaijin from inside Japan

on a tourist Visa?

I know this is technically illegal, but then so are a lot of things

I am an UK national living in Bangkok, i would like to fly straight to Japan to pick up some teaching work without having to incur the cost of flying all the way home to get a WH visa or English teaching gig.

So are any companies willing to recruit people on tourist Visa's?

I am aware i will have to leave the country again to get the necessary visa once i find employment

I have been trying to secure an Eikawa gig from Thailand, but of course this just isnt happening?

I have a degree and am an MCSE (no, not any use for english teaching gigs i know)

People do this all the time but it is not recommended unless you have the cash to support yourself. You could get lucky and get a gig straight away but remember that a certificate of Eligibility takes up to 2 months and you will need to support yourself until then.

You may or may not have to do a visa run.

You can't get a WH visa from the UK/Japanese consulates there? I am not sure if you can apply from outside your home country but it is worth asking the question as the WH visa is the easiest to get if you are under 30 and a UK citizen. Plus having a visa makes you more employable straight off the plane.

You got scrood, dood. I would have been able to get a visa in '02 without leaving. I decided not to take the job though and just went back to the US of A.

Thanks for your help, alas the Japanese embassy in Bangkok aren't at all interested in helping me out and as far as i can gather from their short shrift you cant apply outside of your own country.

I am actually back in the UK now, but the WH visa takes a week to process and in that time they take your passport which is a no-no as i fly back to Bangkok tomorrow

Ive just heard that some Eikawa recruit in Manilla, so ill have to check that out.
