Hostessing is one of the most tedious jobs out there. The crap you have to listen to!

Oh yeah - and drunken bravado and stumbling. Like I said - tedious.

Yeah it's no shock - I worked as a hostess for a while. Made some extra cash - but I couldn't subscribe to all the bullshit. I had a few favourites who liked me because I was sarcastic - masochists obviously.

Of course this was a few years ago when I was blonde and not married.... ;)

For folks here who haven't read it yet, Captain Japan has long continuing series of reports that he worked hard on for almost a decade. :p

Tokyo Hostess Interview Series (Part I)

The Hostess Series > I > II > III > IV > V > VI > VII

,....Today's hostess might be seen as a modern day geisha: she entertains men and is paid for it. The patron doesn't care about definitions. He is sold on the illusion that he can convince her that his charms are that which she has never seen before. Her short skirt and skimpy top further fuels his motivation.

Shin Watanabe, owner of the Flamingo, a favorite hostess club in Tokyo's Roppongi, says in the New York Times of the clubs' tradition in Japan: "Every Japanese man would go if he had the money. You get to sit next to a beautiful woman and get entertained."

The conversation is as light as her makeup is heavy. To her, it is a game that is a necessary part of her job. To him, it is a world free of rejection and filled only with possibilities.

Thus, in his never-ending search for truth, justice, and the fastest way to the heart of a bar hostess, Captain Japan this week begins his Tokyo hostess interview series...

I know some euro-american guys become suddenly racistic or nationalistic when they see white girls engaging these jobs in Japan or other asian countries.

Nothing worse than people becoming racistic.....especially when they are euro-american! :wall:

I am not shocked, other than I don't imagine you as a "Hostess type"! But as you said above you were/are not and gave it up fairly quickly. I don't think I could do the job as I am a bit like Asskissinger and call, "BULLSHIT", often, I don't think that would work in that industry!

This is just uncalled for. I don't care if you're a legit J-dude or an FG troll, it's inexcusable.

Snore!

Postby D. » Thu Feb 22, 2007 10:59 am

It would have been nice if the women had anything, and I'm not looking for much, anything interesting or novel to say. The only thing that came close would be that one found the yakuzas to be nicer than the businessmen. But is that really even that surprising? Assuming most of these places are connected to gangs, what kind of dofus yakuza would go in there and act like a jerk? Would seem to be bad form I would think.
