Postby Taro Toporific » Thu Mar 20, 2003 12:26 pm

Toyota to stop TV ads at start of war
March 20, 2003 BRAL20
Toyota Motor Corp. said Wednesday it will cease TV advertising on the major networks indefinitely in the event of war with Iraq...
If other carmakers follow suit, media entities could lose a huge source of ad revenue.

Pissing into the wind

That should last about 3 days until the American public backlashes and Accord sales go through the roof.

That is not a protest but good business. During the war most regular programming could be replaced by war coverage. Companies do not want to be seen as taking advantage of a tragedy during a war by boiosting the profile of their products via advertising so they cut back. This is the same for all companies. The only surprising thing with Toyota is that they make an annoucement about it or talk about it publicly. They shold just keep their mouth shut. Haven't they read "the Art of War"?

I dont think this will affect Toyota at all.

I mean, they're too huge and necessary.
I will not abide ignorant intolerance just for the sake of getting along.
