I think that his statement is strictly due to the fact that he knows Arabs see the Americans as an extension of Israel and therefore do not trust them. If the Arabs (with their 30 cm dicks) sell oil to Japan and Japan has no obligations to Israel increases their trust in Japan's objectives. For stability of oil supply Japan would want a peacefull Middle East without an Israel bias. That makes them more trustworthy. I think Aso has a point and it merits due consideration. His reference to skin colour will resonate well in the Arab world because Asians are not controlled by Jewish people like the U.S., Canada and Britain are.
