Tokyo Midtown's Butthole

The Captain let me tag along to Tokyo Midtown's press opening on his pass, so I could get guerrilla shots of the place. Not a bad experience.. And the Captain was nice to me too.



I've termed the sculpture in the photo 'Midtown's Butthole', because it's in the rear, nestled into a nice carpet of natural grass, and probably rarely cleaned.

That wouldn't be a bad sculpture, if it was the 1950s and he was Henry Moore. But it isn't, and he isn't.

I think that piece should be mated with his phallic/scrotal sculpture.

Well, to give him credit, you could do these if you apprenticed to Italian marble carving masters for decades, like he did. But why would you?

I've seen lots of worse public art, these really aren't that bad, they're imposing in a strange sort of way.
