We're about to make a contest on Globee and we are wondering what would be the best prize to win. Please help us... What would you rather win?

a) A plane ticket to anywhere in the world (from Japan)
b) A trip to Tokyo from anywhere in the world
c) A tour of South-East Asia or China (from Japan)
d) A tour of Japan's most beautiful places (shinkansen, ryokan, food, tour, etc)
e) ??? (any idea welcome)

Thanks.

How did you guess? ;)

Seriously though, it could be a good excuse to go home for the holiday, or just take a break from Tokyo's concrete, for example. I assume many FG's don't necessarily have a very big "travel" budget...

Depends on the target

Postby canman » Tue Apr 03, 2007 1:59 pm

If your target audience are younger foreigners living in Japan, they may not want to go home but travel to some other place. More settled people might want the ticket home, especially if you pick up the fuel surcharge on the tickets. If the contest is open to people outside Japan, then of course sightseeing within Japan maybe interesting to them.

Thanks canman. Actually, that's why I am asking what YOU (and other fellow FG's) would be interested in. Our target audience does include more than one category, just like FG.

Ticket home

Postby canman » Tue Apr 03, 2007 4:25 pm

Then I would choose the ticket home. Mind you I don't know about any other fg, but I was talking to a fellow Canadian about how tiring it is going home. Perhaps its the anticipation of seeing family and friends, or whatever, but there seems to be a big build up, but then once you get home , for me anyway its go go go nonstop. Visiting, going out, shopping, buying stupid fucking souvenirs. I almost need a holiday when I come back from being on holiday.

I couldn't agree more. But I educated my family and friends to make THEM visit me when I fly thousands of kilometers to be in the same country/city as them, and everyone is happy in the end...

Actually, I met an expat who told me that in his company, the gaijin got more holiday than the Japanese staff, precisely because "going home" is not really a holiday. Lucky bastard!
