I'm OLD SCHOOL
I like my rice in a bowl.
Image my '62 Coupe de Vile
But I did a frame-up on a '72 Datsun 240-Z with headers, oversized bore, skirts and full trim/paint to die for back in the late 80s. Right now I have've burned my own chip mods on my MB 190 2.6 and MB 300 straight 6. I've got a blower/headers on my big block Chevy 4x4 which is enough to keep Iraq pumping for the next decade:) Hell, check out my sig, it says it all.
See I shipped that "gomi " 300-series Benz with an expired shaken to the States it still drives like new. AND transporting my car to japan..???

Where can you score a decent car in Japan on the cheap? I mean in the states, I could go to an auto auction and pick up two-five cars for less than $3000-$4000. These were classic camaros, stangs, novas, etc.. Usually sold by an individual. Any places like that in Japan that are open to the public? (kansai preferably).

thanks.

Wouldn't mind getting a ricer to roll around in, like a Mitsubishi 3000GT twin turbo, or a 1990-1995 Skyline GTR.

Another thing I have done in the past is buy a wrecked ride, repair it myself, take it to the paint and body, get it sprayed and sell it for two to three times more than I paid (including the repair).. does that exist in Japan?

One website I used to hit up rather often was:

BB,

There are heaps of auctions in Japan - all over the country. But you will have to find a dealer that can go and buy one for you.

Try Michael Lay

I do know a few other car dealers here but I only have phone numbers not web-sites. If you want their numbers PM me.

My dad is a licensed dealer in the states which was great because I could get any car I wanted at cost.. but here, I'd have to go through a dealer and pay overhead.. :( I don't know about it.

Last year I went to an auction in Kobe, near Harborland.. big mistake.. the cars were way over priced.. I mean a 1995-7 camaro was selling for about 1600000 Yen.. too bloated for my tastes..

I did find some decent deals on Mini Coopers.. but it would have been a tight fit :p

Checking out that website now GomiG. Thanks.

But going to a dealer will save you the extra overhead of buying from a yard which is an additional set of hands. Some of the guys that I know will take you to an auction if you like so you can see the action. There is one in Saitama everyweek that puts through 10,000 cars in one day...

Why do I know this... I scare myself sometimes..

good lord, cheap cars are everywhere.. at 50,000km you have to pay a couple grand to keep driving it, so people just sell them and buy new cars.. its completely rediculous.. lol forget fixing one up.. i dont know where youll have room for that.. but if u do have room and want to i guess go for it. i will do all my own repairs but its ot like im rebuilding something.. japanese are weird tho.. no one fixed their own cars.. lol.. its so stupid how much cash they shell out for the simplest things..

ps... ive got 20% tinted windows.. what shuld i do??? what are the laws??
