Asahi: Building stands in path of PAC3 missile system
A high-rise apartment building under construction will stand precariously close to the planned flight path of missiles fired from an interceptor defense system in Tokyo, sources said. The building's construction was permitted because the government has yet to impose restrictions on high-rise buildings in areas surrounding planned sites for the Patriot Advanced Capability 3 (PAC3) defense system. The delay in restrictions stems from the Defense Ministry's reluctance to reveal the locations out of concerns that areas not defended by the PAC3 system could become targets of attack...All units of the 38-story apartment building in Shinjuku Ward have already been sold...more...

It is wonderful that they can apply their usual logic to this! ".....Although the Patriot missiles would likely not hit the apartment building, the wind pressure from the missiles would almost certainly shatter the windows of some units, they said....."

"Likely?" Instead of worrying about the military viability of the situation, they worry about troubling the neighbors? Ichigaya is the Defense Ministry and they are going to let them build this skyscrapper next door? Any Scud type missle that is fired with that as a target, it is going to be a big mother, if not nuclear and they are worried about their intercepter might be a bother their neighbors? Holy shit! I'm sure glad I live out in the mountains.

Somewhere a N. Korean agent is making an entry in his notebook in the Locations for Snipers to attack the GSDF section.

Probably more like where to pick up cheap real estate, but to wait until the Self Defense fellows have fired five or six patriots into the 4th floor balcony of the new building.

Asahi: Missile interceptor system could move to public park in Tokyo
The Defense Ministry is considering using parks in Tokyo as sites for its interceptor missile defense system because a high-rise building will stand near the originally planned launching pad, sources said...Some of the areas being considered are the GSDF's Nerima camp in Nerima Ward -- and Yoyogi Park in Shibuya Ward and Harumi Port Park in Chuo Ward. "We will need relatively large public areas for the project," a senior official of the ministry said...more...
