OSAKA -- A popular whale shark named Yu-chan died late Sunday at an aquarium here, officials said.
According to a witness, who did not wished to be named, 3 processing ships from a Japanese whaling fleet were found floating in Yu-chan's tank on the morning the discovery was made, and there was evidence of the use of explosive harpoons in what remained of the 12 to 13 year-old, 5.4-meter-long female whale shark's stripped carcass. Nevertheless, officials expect to announce the cause of the death as "natural causes".
By coincidence, the local sushi shops and supermarkets will be selling whale-shark sashimi from Monday . . . real story here
