[floatl]Image[/floatl]Patent office rejects Asahi Breweries' trademark application for 'Ina Bauer'

The Asahi Shimbun

The Japan Patent Office has given the cold shoulder to Asahi Breweries Ltd.'s application to register "Ina Bauer" as a trademark for commercial use, sources said Tuesday.

The patent office has now rejected 11 applications since Shizuka Arakawa used the Ina Bauer move in her gold medal performance at the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics, an official said...

In other news, Asahi Breweries have announced that they've been just been awarded the trademark "Weak, Watery Piss" which they intend to use to promote their new happoshu beer-like beverage made from bean sprouts.

I used to take the Toei Asakusa line which runs on the same line as the Keikyu trains. Every time I saw a train bound for Inzai-Maki-No-Hara I'd hear that Iron Butterfly beat.
