Please, a moment silence for LOOSE SOCKS

Postby Taro Toporific » Wed Mar 26, 2003 3:23 pm

Please, a moment silence for the "inventor" of LOOSE SOCKS. :cry2:

Loose socks boss loses his business
Akira Tokita, the man who started the "loose socks" phenomenon among Japanese schoolgirls, has lost his business after his company Browndoll went bankrupt...Thanks to the appreciation schoolgirls showed to his products, Tokita enjoyed widespread fame during the mid-'90s. He was awarded for presenting Japan with the "loose socks" that have arguably become as much a symbol of Japanese schoolgirls as sailor suit uniforms. (Mainichi Shimbun, March 26, 2003)

I have always loved those loose socks. I was told that some of them stretch up to 2 meters in length. Hope the trend comes back because these days I don't see many in Japan.

Speaking of fashions Japanese, am I the only one that thinks kimonos are ugly?

Every time I approach a kimono clad woman from behind, I always find myself thinking, that's a old woman. Many times I've been surprised by a beautiful young face. The female form is indeed a wonderful thing, why conceal it with a stupid rectangular backpack type device and an old woman's shuffle walk with sandals?

Respectfully would have to disagree ramchop-sama.. have you seen the bright long sleeved versions with the long decoratively knotted obi worn by unmarried women. (furisode) they are stunning..

but more importantly, I have seen kimono exhibitions where they really could be considered art in the craftmanship and design.

But perhaps you are just used to (and prefer) seeing a womanly figure with all the curves in the usual places - and that is fine... with a kimono you are meant to look at the clothes rather than see the woman.. just a cultural thing..

You're married, and when it comes to the subject of photographing attractive women you're more afraid of the yakuza than your wife?

Wasn't there a thread a while ago called "I married a Japanese Banshee", or doesn't that apply in this case? 8O

Hate to say it dude, but the throwing things banshee is fairly normal wife behavior in my neighborhood.

BUT, there is NO such thing as being thrown out ones own house. Just try to explain the idiom "BEING IN THE DOG HOUSE" to a Japanese person, female or male, and they will stare at you in disbelief.

I think Kimonos are GREAT.

I don't wear one, but I would if I had one.

What I DO wear are JIMBEI.

They are lightweight and cool. Can't wear boxers with them. Briefs are a must cuz a breeze may blow everything and cause a stirring downbelow that is IMPOSSIBLE to hide wearing one of these. I know because I was at home thinking about something and my wife pointed IT out to me.

I don't know if it's still JIMBEI, but there are similar ones that are long sleeved with long legs.

If you're beginning to like it here then why leave? You've got the visa, are successful at your job, why not do the hitchhiking thing then find a place you like and spend a bit of time working there.

A lot easier to reunite with the soon to be ex-loved one if she comes sobbing back to you from half-way across the country than from half-way across the world.

Of course there's an element of the FG happy forum family who'll be shouting "Get out while you've got the chance!"

I'm one of those who lately has fallen into this category. You should get out while you still can. The longer you are here (working, dating women, etc.), the harder it will be to leave.

Kota-sama,

Your situation seems to be a very easy one. First, dump her. No man should let a woman talk to him like you say she does. Second, you don't have to leave Japan. Just stay there, work, travel and date other women. I have found that the worst J-girls are the ones who want to live abroad because they don't like the way Japanese culture treats women. They live outside of Japan and become even more unreasonable than foreign women. I had that experience with a J-girl in the US. She lost her temper all the time and always analyzed the way I spoke with her. I finally dumped her. Now I have found one in Tokyo with whom I am getting married this summer.

Remember just because one was bad does not mean the rest of the lot are the same.

When she is calm, tell her you both need to talk.

Ask her straight, if she wants to stay married:

If she says yes, then ask her not to tell you to go back to London any more.

If she dodges the issue by:
a) accusing you of cheating on her
b) accusing you of wanting to leave and then flying off the handle and telling you to leave.
c) asking you why you want to divoce

Ignore her and ask her again. If she flys off the handle, walk away.

Basically, ignore her when she is in her angry moments but NEVER leave the house. When she seems calm, go back and ask her again. Wear her down with kindness. and NEVER lose YOUR temper.

Another tack is to write a letter telling her how you feel.
Ask her if she wants to stay married and if she does, ask her why does she keep telling you to go back to London. Tell her if she truly loves you and wants to stay married, she needs to stop that.

And if she does it again after you come to an agreement or is she won't answer the question at all;

Just walk. Pack your stuff and go and don't look back. Make sure you have a local place to stay. And don't tell her where you are going. If she asks, tell her you are getting away from the angry woman that has taken his wife's place.

She'll either encourage you to go, or beg you to stay. Give her one more chance if she begs you to stay.

If she does it again, go away for a week. Call her while you are gone. But don't return home.

If she keeps going crazy. Leaving is really your only option.
I will not abide ignorant intolerance just for the sake of getting along.

American Oyaji,

I am really sorry but the advice you give is the reason why men are fucked up in the west and hide under their women's skirts. Being sensitive and caring and all that shit. Men should not tollerate being talked at like she does.

Kota-sama, don't listen to AO. Fuck (I mean dump) the bitch. Just tell her to get lost and get yourself a new chick. Japan is full of them. Just go in a bar and start a conversation with a girl you like.

If you want wimpy advice listen to Oyaji-sama.

You tied the knot yet Jack? It'll be interesting to watch this testosterone fuelled bravado change in the coming months.

You're right, men should not tolerate being talked at like that. But we do.

Women are just as hormonally challenged as we are, and if you lose it when they do, a pretty nice set-up can be destroyed.

I'm not saying our Sapporro friend has a pretty nice set-up (it's impossible to know all the facts/emotions), but there's a history there, and you take the good with the bad. If you leave, you're leaving both the bad and the good.
