So... what about Tokyo?

Ms. Tsuru and I will be visiting Tokyo from 5-7 to 8-7.

I've been to Japan dozens of times and of course my better half is from here, but I'll be frank: when it comes to Tokyo both of us are as green as the grass outside.

Most of the time we'll be looking to explore the city on our own and see the usual suspects, but tips are always welcome. What we're looking for are people to hook up with on the saturday night of 070707, special events, places to go, things to do, etc..

On the first two nights we'll be staying in one of those big chain hotels in sumida-ku, but saturday night we'll be keeping open for impromptu accommodation downtown. So we'll also be looking for a place to...erm... stay. :shroom:

So if you feel like hanging out and put a face to a name, or if you know something we can get ourselves stuck into feel free to send me a PM or shout out in this thread! :)

There will probably be a chance to see a 'tanabata festival' 07/07.
If you'd like to get out of Tokyo, I can show you around Yokohama.

osaka.. osaka... where is that in relation to tokyo now? :)

I'm afraid we're not hitting Osaka (or Shimane ;) )... landing and takeoff are in Nagoya (her parents are from Aichi) and are only one week apart, so the best we could do in addition to Tokyo is Nagoya-city or Yokohama. Sorry about that.

I've heard about Yokohama's chuukagai, it might be worth checking out. About tanabata: did I mention 0707 is my birthday?
