[floatl]Image[/floatl]PRNewswire: GONG, the UK Based Japanese Animation Channel Launches in Over 30 Countries
The New cutting-edge Japanese animation network, GONG, dedicated to teens and adults is the first international on-demand, on-line Anime channel in Europe and North America. For the first time, Manga and Anime fans can watch episodes from their favourite Anime series and movies - including cult hits such as The Slayers, sexy and sassy kick-ass girls Ikki Tousen, infamous Harlock from cult series Cosmo Warrior Zero and Gun Frontier - direct to their computers, mobile phones, iPod, MP3 devices. Two TV executives, who grew up in the Children Animation Entertainment Business...came up with this pioneering project. They commented that: "Traditional TV still works but has lost touch with many target groups. TV consumption behaviour has completely changed. Time has come for a new generation in the new media space. Manga Fans and Japanese animation geeks have been waiting for it"... GONG is going to transform the growing Animé market from an established niche business into a mass-market proposition fuelled by the explosion of new media platforms. GONG core demographic audience targets at Male and Female, 15 to 30 years old. Its strategy is to develop the exposure and popularity of Animé via broadband internet and mobile distribution, being the most favoured entertainment space for this generation...more...

Wow. Their website has one of the most florid cases of Flash overuse I've seen in years. Ahhh... reminds me of the good old days (the late 90's) when every new, "hip", "cutting edge" webpage had a 5 minute flash movie intro that took 15 minutes to load on my dial-up.

With so much anime available for free over the internet via bitorrent sites and sites like youtube and dailymotion, and Gong's limited accesibility (I think it says you have to have Joost or a cellphone on the 'Orange' network to download any anime) I wonder if they will last very long. They would've had a much better chance if they just offered themselves through their website or the iTunes store.
This isn't Nam. This is Bowling. There are rules.

The Last Vampire
(it's dubbed to English, & rates only a 6.6 on IMDB, but fuck it it's FREE!) :p
[I love the way the divx plugin slowly fades everything else to black .. give it a few secs]
M0AR anime

...& if you feel like throwing up inside your mouth a bit every ten minutes and losing some of your humanity: The Girl Next Door (non-anime related)
