Tokyo/Yokohama - 7 night experience? Yokohama car culture?

Postby winstonbike » Wed May 30, 2007 3:09 pm

Any thoughts for where to go/what to do in Tokyo/Yokohama over 7 nights and one weekend beyond the standard tourist spots? Like Daikoku Futo rest stop to see the car scene, etc.

Coming from the US for a week and a half in Japan on business, have nights and weekends free - where should I go to see the highlights of Japanese car culture? Daikoko Futo (sp?) on Fri/Sat? thanks

It's tough to catch a good spot these days--the police have really cracked down on drag racing, etc. I used to go to Hakone, but what they do there is mostly drifting and it's best to go when it's rained that day a little bit so there's less traction. It's absolutely amazing... Another thing to check out would be to go to the Yokohama Bay Bridge on a Fri/Sat to check out all the cars in the parking lot under the bridge... This attracts mostly show car types though. Have fun!

yup (around 2:10 in) thats what it was like. Last time I went by there a year or two ago the cops had really cracked down and there were only a few cars, and no dancing.
