Actual quotes. See and heard from on various Tv sources this last week.

"Calibrate me Dick" - Donald Rumsfeld to Gen. Richard Myers

"I wouldn't go into Baghdad before I had another armored division come up into my rear." - Retired Gen. Barry R. McCaffrey

"I'd much rather have them come surrender than have me have to go hump them out of holes." - Lieutenant-Colonel Rob Abbott

"They didn't uprise." - General Wesley Clark

"It should resemble a 'nudent'" -- Unidentified military source speaking
about MOAB and using military jargon for nuclear detonation.

"I think you should Pac-Man the ring around Baghdad," General Barry
McCaffrey <<< my personal favorite

"I think they got thwacked." - Senior RAF source

"A hot contact point is where our soldiers are getting shot at," - British
sergeant

"sensitive site exploitation" - General Tommy Franks

"rapid dominance" - U.S. military term for what was supposed to happen after "shock and awe"

Yeah, the Pac-Man quote was the best.

From this armchair General's point of view, I think they should have gone city by city instead of rushing Baghdad. Don't bomb Baghdad (except for that initial strike on Saddam)... well, anyway, here's to hopefully few civilian casualities.

It's a shame that Rumsfeld, a politician with no modern military background, can override the Generals who wanted to start the war with more troops.

The Generals wanted so many troops in there that Iraq would have been occupied by 200,000 US troops.
I will not abide ignorant intolerance just for the sake of getting along.
