Cross Your Eyes

Stereographic Photos of Japan from 1877
By William Henry Metcalf

Image

I found a nice collection of stereographic views of Japan. In the heyday of stereograms, photographers toured the world searching for exotic locations, it was a popular mass media of the day, and many people collected stereo views from around the world. You can look through the galleries, view the actual-size stereograms, and if you know how to cross your eyes just right, you can see the stereo effect without special viewers.
