Just so you know there are not many countries where you need to carry a Gaijin card with you. I think you only need one in American and maybe Canada. Not sure about Australia. In Europe you don`T need one, and you don`t need to carry your passport around with you 24/7.
It is only in the US and Japan as far as I know.
