Re-entry Permit & Extension at the same time?

Postby Samurai_Jerk » Sat Jul 07, 2007 2:06 pm

I got the little post card in my mailbox and I've got to go get my extension of period of stay stamp within the next couple of week. Does anyone know if it's possible to get my re-entry permit at the same time. The only reason I'm wondering is my gaijin card obviously won't be updated until I first get the new stamp and then make it over to the kuyakusho, so I thought that might affect my ability to get the re-entry permit. I'd call the immigration information hotline and ask except it takes hours of redialing to get through to anyone.

I've done it before, I've even had immigration ask me if I wanted one when picking up my extension.

Immigration actually doesn't care about your gaijin card, that's a different gov't agency.

yeah, i always do both at the same time, otherwise you gotta make the extra trip, just by the 6000 yen multiple re-entry stamp, and go to the counter.

Well they do ask to see it when you hand in applications so they do care on some level. I guess they just want to make sure that you actually bother to get one and to verify your home address.

Anyway, thanks, guys.

Yep - me second that. The lovely men at Tachikawa office ask if you want to submit them together.

Don"t forget to have your stamps ready - \4,000 for renewal and \6,000 for multiple renetry. GEt them at the combini that they recommend at the office.
