:p Really funny video.

But the sad thing is that halfs really go through things like that.

It was a ramble, but I can't say it was uninteresting. It just went on too long.

Pretty cool, professionally done too. Looking forward to seeing the rest.

First story doesnt surprise me because it even happens to my friends who have uncommon Japanese surnames so people are always misreading the kanji. Even happens to me in English speaking countries even though my surname is pronounced the way it is spelled a lot of people manage to mess it up.

A lot of us and our children experience things like this. I hope to see more videos like these.

In my junior high school days (west tokyo suburban near Yokota air base),
there were Filiphino half, Iranian half, black's half and white's half and quarter in the same grade.
Most of them had been somehow bullied, made fun of or at least treated negatively by the other students.
Especially Filiphino half had been bullied severly.

By the way, my girlfriend was white's quarter girl at that time. She was called Frankenstein.

Bullies are half men. Maybe quarter.

Don't you mean "best drawn and quartered"?

They'd have to be well hung first, of course ;)

That was good but it made me wonder why he didn't just speak up and say "yeah, i know i sound japanese, i am and was raised here, but my father is a (whatever he is) so i have a foreign name in katakana...and then spell it out slowly (like he did at one point)." When you are in such a rare situation that 99.9% of people do not encounter regularly, the onus is on you to just explain it to them and make both their and your life easier instead of leaving both of you continue to bang your head against the wall.

The easiest way to avoid the whole issue is to simply use the japanese spouses last name for all kids in japan. That's what I did. No issues when my daughter went to school, etc.
