Tamori does his impression of a Hato Bus tour guide as a Japanese, "German", "Russian", "Spanish", "Chinese", "South Korean" and "North Korean".

You know, I've always hated Tamori. Why is he famous? He's not particularly talented or funny and he just irritates the hell out of me for some reason. This video doesn't help matters any, and I can't stand the zombie woman with him either :p

He has always reminded me of some of the more irritating old farts at the city hall I used to work at.

My wife (Japanese) can't stand him either, so she can't explain to me what his appeal is, and I end up wondering why he is on tv so much and so often everytime I have the misfortune of seeing those big doofy sunglasses :p

Just me? All the comments at boobtube seem to be praising him

It seems to me that to get on any of the Tamori shows as a gaijin you have to be willing to embarrass yourself and be a disgrace to your culture. Actually, I think it is written in the contracts.

You mean like the really effeminate guys dancing in the background and doing important tasks like taping up posters? :p

I liked the N. Korean imrpession above the best. Tamori's a lot of fun and I enjoyed Camus and the Megadeath guy on Soramimi.

In the following year, he was selected as the disc jockey of the radio program "All Night Nippon" and appeared on the TV program "Monty Python."

Does anybody know more about this Monty Python reference? The BBC series "Monty Python's Flying Circus" finished its last season in 1974. What Monty Python are they talking about? A post-1975 Japanese program of the same name?

Japanese Wikipedia hold the answer page as well.

From the Tamori Article
And from the Monty Python Article
To sum up for the Japanese impaired (just the tamori pertinent bits) essentially bits of Monty Python were shown dubbed into Japanese on late night tv with bits of Japanese entertainers doing various skits and talks (amongst which a young Tamori sporting an eyepatch instead of his sunglasses did some stuff including some sort of magician act).

According to the article, as a result of problems with the agreement with the BBC the original tapes of this Japanese dubbed version were destroyed and no longer exist.

But I still hate Tamori :D
