Angry Osim blasts Japan as 'bunch of amateurs'

July 10, 2007
HANOI (AFP) - Fuming Japan coach Ivica Osim has slammed his squad for playing like a "bunch of amateurs" in their 1-1 Asian Cup draw with Qatar, ordering them to go for broke in their next match.

The Blue Samurai crumbled to a last-gasp equaliser from Uruguay-born striker Sebastian Quintana Soria's free kick after bungling a handful of scoring chances in their Group B opener on Monday.

"Don't be a bunch of amateurs. Finish where you must," an angry Osim told his charges in the locker room, according to Celtic star Shunsuke Nakamura...

"He was hotting up with his face turning red."

Osim's interpreter was reduced to tears and could not translate half of what the gruff Bosnian said, according to 29-year-old Nakamura.

His [Brendan Behan's] last words were to several nuns standing over his bed, "God bless you, may your sons all be bishops."

Japan coach Osim loses temper with media
AAP Monday July 16, 06:50 AM
Japan coach Ivica Osim's grumpiness at the Asian Cup reached bizarre new levels on Sunday when he snapped at reporters:
"Stop asking me about rabbits!"
The Bosnian's long-running game of cat and mouse with the media continued unabated on the eve of Japan's final Group B game against co-hosts Vietnam.
Even the simplest of questions were shot down in flames by an irritated Osim, whose attempts to bring a swift end to his news conferences are becoming increasingly peculiar.....more...

What a diverse trio of FG coaches Japan has had: Troussier, Zico, and Osim.

Let's hope we can make him even angrier with an Aussie win in the quarter final against Japan on Saturday night!

I think kick-off is around 7pm Tokyo-time (8pm Sydney-time) if you want to find a cool venue to watch it live.
