Beware of Snakes

Postby Mr Doricar » Fri Aug 03, 2007 1:59 pm

Anyone seen a sign at Narita that says beware of snakes? I've been stuck at Narita a few times and reckon I've walked the entire place but i've never seen such a sign. Having an argument with my uncle who swears blind there is a sign! hmmmm

Maybe they saw the movie and feared Samuel L. Jackson would drop by at Narita

Or maybe your uncle is just delusional ;)

Maybe that's it! Few too many complimentary glasses of wine, one Samuel J film too many and for years after he's telling everyone that they'res snakes in Narita.

On another subject...

Do you think they would show films like that on an aircraft? Like Airplane or some terrorist/disaster movies. Hmmm

Those signs are EVERYWHERE in Kanto parks. In the middle of the concrete hell of my Yokohama Showa University Hospital there are plenty of signs like this one in the gardens reading:
マ] (Mamushi ni chui!)[/I]

No doubt there are "beware of snakes" signs in Narita since that area has plenty of uncut grassy areas where Mamushi vipers like to hang out.

Here are some signs from Tokyo's Edo-gawa park and other urban parks with tall grass.

Both Mamushi and Habu are extremely dangerous and can be deadly when they have been cornered in a bottle of Sochu for a couple of months.

A jolt of that shit will roll your socks up and down like venetian blinds!

A few hot nights ago, I was digging around my pantry looking the electric fan I had stored there at the end of last summer and I found a forgotten jar of gift "HABU-shu" --- a charming Japanese hooch made by throwing a poison viper into a jar of distilled spirits..... ALIVE. No wonder I 'forgot' about that jar....
...more on my Japanese snake oil...

I've met guys who make the stuff down here. They force awamori down the snake's throat, 'til it vomits and shits it's guts out, repeat until dead. Pickle in a nice bottle of awamori for several months. Enjoy yer screech.

I am actually relieved to hear of this. I am sure nobody would want to drink habu-shu that was made when the snake had a gut full of crap.

I wasn't so sure. I remember a friend took me to a Ginza sushiya, we ordered some kani, itamaesan asked us if we wanted it with or without somethingorother. I didn't understand what he said, so I asked my FG friend (whose language skills are much better than mine) and he didn't understand it either. After some conversation, itamaesan shows us a can of some dark, foul smelling goo and starts explaining, it is kani crap. I mean literally. Most people like their kani without fecal matter, but some people think it is a delicacy, so they collect all the kani poop from all the processed crabs and can it for sale separately.
We ordered our kani without crap. I am generally pretty adventurous with sushi but you have to draw the line somewhere.

That maybe the true artists, but normally they drop that baby kicking, squirming and a screaming right into the sauce! After six months or more, most of the snake meat et al, is in to the sochu itself, with just the skin and bones remaining although the snake looks whole.

You drink it straight and it is potent and it will definately knock your dick in the dust!

I sometimes go down to Miura, and there is a similar sign warning about vipers in Japanese. However, according to my friend, there are none. The sign is there to discourage people from pissing by the side of the boathouse.

Well I have seen 3 snakes so far (and I've been here for almost 3 years). One by the dorms at the Uni, the second one somewhere in Kyoto (inaka) and about 3 weeks ago in Azuka (nara). :D
