Ding Dong the witch is dead! I've always maintained that Japan is basically a land of mutual suffering and the only way they can solve any issue is by denial, apology and suicide. Therefore, Abe going to the hospital makes perfect sense.

1) Everyone can co-misurate with an illness (mutual suffering)
2) Hospital is basically the same as denial - ' I can't/couldn't perform because I was sick'

In theory, Abe was supposed to offer one more thing to the LDP: force the extension of the terrorism bill through against the opposition of the Upper House and then resign to take responsibility for passing legislation without establishing a consensus.

Whether he is ill or not, his resignation has left this task to someone else unless the opposition suddenly changes stance.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was hospitalized at Keio University Hospital in Tokyo on Thursday suffering from fatigue.

A day after Abe announced that he would resign, the prime minister visited the hospital in Shinjuku-ku for a checkup.

"The prime minister is fatigued and has lost about five kilograms over a few months," said a doctor. "He is suffering from a digestive illness and needs treatment for at least three or four days."

Abe planned to attend a Liberal Democratic Party meeting on Thursday afternoon, but doctors deemed that he was in no physical condition to attend.
