Immediately after the above picture was taken, Aso took the booger he picked, rolled it into a ball, and flicked it at the families of the slave laborers who died in the Aso mines. NHK, while of course omitting any mention of the Aso mines, did show a late-70s era Aso displaying his marksmanship at some Olympic shooting event. He's one cooool political inbre...er, thoroughbred.

Let the slug get chewed up first!

Fukuda as the former CoS, Chief Cabinet Secretary and from a good political family will make a nice offering on the funneral pyre. Fukuda, who sure ain't his old man, emits all the charisma and charm of a turd in the punch bowl.

When the smoke settles, from what I hear, they'll bring Aso off the bench to get the game going again. Although, he's not out of the running yet, he's also smartly playing it as a Senpai/Kohai thing.

Oh great. Two turds in the punch bowl.
The way I figure it is that Fukuda is being given the hot potato---after the Social Security etc. scandals cool off, and then the ASO will drop in to claim the spoils.

What LDP leader other than Koizumi has shown any charisma in the last 20 years?

Obuchi?
Image
Voted politician who looks most likely to put a lampshade over his head at a wedding

Mori?
Image
Voted most likely to forget himself in public

Hashimoto?
Image
Recently elected memorial Member of the Brylcreem Hall of Fame

Miyazawa?

Voted politician to have most likely to have been a zombie

Lots of charisma there.

I thought Hashimoto died.. Didn't he have a heart attack or something? If he's still living, his hair will make him leader..

You've got to admit, Aso would be a lot more fun as PM. He's the only candidate who has a chance of pinning the Gaffe-o-meter as often as Mori.

It doesn't make much difference who is PM to me as long as their stay in office and Japan Today keep up the comedy. Farewell Abe sweet buns http://www.japantoday.com/jp/news/418702
