I got a excited for about 10 secs about that myself since Yahoo is dirt cheap broadband Internet. But....
YahooBB SEEMS to have only five (5!) of the major TV channels! For the same price you could have 20-60 channels on Japanese cable or satellite TV. Yahoo's own BB and TechTV channels are DOGDOO since it's delayed 24 hours.

In the FG thread cable TV get mentioned.

True, they don`t have as many channels as SkyP but 19 for now including ESPN, Fox, MTV. They have to be working on more channels to stay competitive. Plus, they also claim to provide video on demand. I wonder how good that is. I have been looking at SkyP but my apartment faces the wrong way so I am looking at paying 4 man to get it installed on the roof. :x

Yeah, that's news to me. When YahooBB TV announced in Dec., they had zip-zero-nada-yadda-nothing in their programming stream.

With a 12M YahooBB connection, V-o-D is possible, providing ... well... you're mileage may differ. Remember you are VERY LUCKY if your landlord lets you put a dish on the roof.

Also that 40,000yen to get it installed on your roof is not such a bad idea since it would have cost 8-15,000yen for a "veranda" installation, NOTE: a professional installation saves you money in the long-run because water will not getting into your cable connections or receiver horn during the typhoon season.

A word to the all FG out there:
ALWAYS check whether your next dwelling has cable or faces the right way for satellite TV as well as checking the distance to the Main Switch in less than 1.25km for your ADSL (or 100M FTTH).

Sometimes TV cable in Japan lets you get TV, Internet and telephone service all through the cable for a flat rate per month. That lets you to dump the evil bastards at NTT (Japan's telephone monopoly) altogether. 8)

I haven't got a dish but my TV is a really funky one that has Sat TV options. When I play with the channels I can get the sounds of all of the channels like BBC etc but the picture looks like it needs to be tuned in. Would love to know how to do it as I am worried about inducing an epileptic fit with the freaky pictures on the screen.

Or do I just need to buy an unscrambler from a cable company? And of course pay the fees..

Am I stealing from someboy else's dish?
