So they get a user community, get free translation that attracts more users...sounds like a reasonable biz effort if getting a commited online community is their goal.

I believe the current jargon for making money off your users' labor is "digital sharecropping."

This site really has no point, because all the good manga that is out there (which is definitely far from 100% of the TOTAL manga that exists) is already licensed by some random company...so they're uploading a bunch of crap titles to translate and sell back to...no one.
