DJ Krush Needs Japanese Food

Postby Mulboyne » Thu Oct 04, 2007 9:41 pm

[floatr]Image[/floatr]Hour: Chewing the belly fat
...An absolutely homeland-related problem he continues to battle, after years of touring Europe and North America, is a common one for musicians..."I don't like greasy food that makes my stomach feel heavy. When on tour, I have limited options for food, so I get through by bringing pouch-packed food, rice, etc. from Japan. I grew up with Japanese food, so not being able to eat it for a while is rough for me. As is always the case, once a tour is over I come home losing some weight and my wristwatch is fitting loose. I'm sure that's what's going to happen this time round as well. Well, it's a good thing, that would shed my belly fat"...more...

Funny how he has to play homage to his 'homez' -- Yaks in Japan during his 'way back' time prolly have nothing to do with him. Another marginally talented DJ trying to capitalize on the gangsta thang. I saw this firsthand through the 90's and early 00's when I was booking and coordinating JHH bands trying to break in LA. Their only real draw was the large Asian population of LB and Socal that still somehow thinks Japan is a step above.

To the real players out there - JHH is just rich mommy boyz posing and acting like idiots.

DJ Krush has been around for ages and was never gangster in any way during his music career as far as I know. He is from the more "true" hiphop-segment (you know backpackers and breakdance and graff and that - not the bling bling and guns segment). He is actually a quite skilled DJ. His records are quite popular too, though I've never personally been that much into his sound.

Yeah - the promo phots really shows that, huh? I'd mistake him from a Japanese hippy hop backpacker thats for sure! Though we both agree about his sound. More French DJ than anything. He plays well in Ibiza.

I've never gotten the impression that DJ Krush is meant to be "gangsta". The promo shots are just for marketing it to the dudes who love that kind of stuff. Even the ones that try just look like hip hop cosplayers to me.

But at least Japanese hip hop fans who dress like they've escaped from the rap video on your TV set aren't going to start a fight because you looked em in the eye, like western wannabe gangsters. They're just having fun, no harm done.

Not really a fan of the DJ phenomenon but I happened to see him play once in Grand Cafe back in the 90's. He Rocked. The. House.
Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.
