Kazunari Saito, a 33-year-old electrician, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly giving Sayaka Nishizawa, 21, sleeping pills and suffocating her in April, a police official in Kanagawa said, speaking on condition of anonymity, citing policy.

Not to make light of this but CNN reports that Sayaka Nishizawa paid Kazunari Saito $1700 to off her. That's a decent sum, but probably won't cover Saito's court costs. Since he is currently indisposed, the suicide site will need a replacement Kevorkian, one that works for somewhat less than $1700 per job. I'll start the bidding at $1250, but depending on the type of day that I'm having, I might be coaxed into it for much less.

The theme song for the TV show "MASH" was called "Suicide is Painless" (the title of this thread), which just to show what I geek I am, I believe was written by the producer of the show's son.

Actually, it was written by Robert Altman's son. Robert Altman directed the movie and the song was the theme for both the movie and the show.

It brings on many changes,
And I can take or leave it if I please

And here's some trivia to brighten your day:

Each additional coil adds friction to the knot, which makes the noose harder to pull closed or open. The number of coils should therefore be adjusted depending on the intended use, the type and thickness of rope, and environmental conditions such as wet or greasy rope. Six to eight loops are normal when using natural ropes]more[/URL]

On the other hand, that MASH song is very cool in a sad kind of way. Hot Lips Hoolihan, Hawkeye and Radar...ah them were the days

Woman Jumps From Tokyo Building in Suicide Attempt, Lands on Guy Walking by TOKYO (AP) -- A woman leaped from an 11-story Tokyo apartment Wednesday in an apparent suicide, striking and seriously injuring a passer-by, a news report said Wednesday. The unidentified woman, who appeared to be in her 30s or 40s, appeared to have jumped from the building onto a busy Tokyo street and was declared dead at the scene, Kyodo News agency reported. She hit a 47-year-old male pedestrian who suffered a brain injury, the report said. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police said they could not immediately confirm the report. Japan has one of the industrial world's highest suicide rates, with more than 32,000 people taking their own lives in 2006.

This is why the whole suicide car thing is so much better. No one else gets hurt or majorly inconvenienced and it's easier to clean-up. Much more Nihon-teki.
