ipod Touch

Postby Phoenix_stu » Mon Oct 15, 2007 2:47 am

Well, I broke down today and bought the new ipod touch.

Let me tell you. . . It was money definately well spent. That thing is amazing compared to my last one.
The browser and WiFi works great. Fairly fast as well. Video quality is superb and sound is great.
I first wanted to get the iphone when it comes out here however, I have a fairly decent phone and no need to trade it in. I am glad that I decided to get this rather than the iphone.
The only downfall that I can see so far is the lack of ability to edit your calander. You can sync your calander events however, you can not edit them on the run. The other downside is that it doesn't have the mail function as the iphone does. You can however, just check your mail on line. It would be nice to have my mail pushed to my ipod however, checking online works just as well.

Anyway, if you are in need of a new ipod, I highly recommend it.

Sorry for the poor pics, I didn't feel like breaking out the big camera.

Rumor is that the iPod Touch will get better editing abilities (like editing the calendar) and better MacOS integration when Leopard ships.

But who cares? It's great just as it is. I love the big screen and video playback on my iPhone, it's the same as you've got. I found a bunch of enka music videos on YouTube, it's always good for some idle amusement, and the image quality is better than what you get from the YouTube site on a desktop computer.

YouTube said they upgraded to H.264 for the iPhone/iPod Touch, since they can't play the Flash Video codec. It's much better quality for the same file size. Supposedly YouTube will go all-H.264 eventually, but for now, there isn't as much stuff in the new format.

Is the screen pretty durable or do they sell a screen guard for it?

Well, I have searched many stores today and my feet hurt. LOL. Anyway, all that I could find for it so far was the silicone protector and the screen guard.

The apple store here has ONE from, I beleive, Belkin. It is sports arm band.

I really don't like the look of the silicone one. It takes away from aesthetics of it and all. I will toss it out as soon as someone makes something good for it. Just right now I really don't want to damage it.

Good luck and get all you can out of your ipod-touch, looking forward to getting on myself! If you have any other recommendations, please keep me posted!

i'm hesitant cause of the lack/locking out of of 3rd party app support...

i'm holding off till these apple firmware updates stop cockblocking the cool software regular folk are coming up with for the touch/iphone...

The screens are very hard to scratch and as far as third party apps are concerned jailbreak works on the ipod touch.

Well, I was really skeptical about doing it however, I just broke out of jail:D

I used this nifty little download called "ijailbreak" and it worked flawlessly.

Now I have notepad and I can edit the calendar on the go. Also, got the mail set up and it works great as well. Until apple comes out with their version, I will stick with this. Can you beleive this program was created by a 13 or 14yr old kid:confused:

Anyway. you can read about it here
