Cancer-causing chemicals in mineral water

WHEN in Japan, you may be better off drinking tap water instead of bottled mineral water. That's because acetaldehye, a cancer-causing chemical, was detected in 19 brands of mineral water - five imported brands and 14 Japanese products - tested. Seventeen brands also contained formaldehyde.

Guess what the names of those cancer-causing "19 brands" and 17 brands of formaldehyde are?
The report did not name the 30 Japanese, American, Canadian and French brands tested at the Yokohama City Institute of Public Health....
...A spokesman for the Japan Mineral Water Association declined to comment on the matter because they do not know the names of the tested brands.
Fifty-three out of the 380 mineral water companies operating in Japan are members of the association.
'Our members have adopted the same water quality criteria as those for tap water,' the spokesman said.

I guess I'll stick to drinking red plonk/wine ROTE NIHANA between Tina and Gomi-Girl. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. 8)

Time for another "Ask Topo" question:

Where can I get quality wine in Japan? Having grown up in Northern California, there are some brands that I really want to find but can't. My personal favorite is V. Sattui... do you know of any places that sell it here?

I use Village Cellars!! But they specialise in Aus/NZ wines. But call them to find out more as they can usually get anything.

Toll Free: 0120-06-876
email: order@village-cellars.co.jp

Delivered straight to your door.

Not sure for Cali wines but I am sure there is an importer.. try asking at the ACCJ for a distributor.

"Water" and " more interesting"? How about seeing Japanese ONI drinking bottled water?

[quote]SANDLAND manga series by Akira Toriyamaa tale of a post-apocalyptic world where demons co-mingle with humans and both species struggle to survive despite a near-complete lack of water....[demons] play video games]
