I think this post sums it up perfectly. This is not about culture, morality or anything that noble, this is about rural people's livelihoods and their inability to find another way to take care of their families. This business is in all probability heavily subsidized by the J-gubmint and in the end the same will happen that has happened to the whaling industry. They will keep catching it anyway as it keeps people in their jobs in the name of "tradition", and the meat ends up frozen in some warehouse as nobody will even feed that shit to their dog.TennoChinko wrote:The same guys who have no qualms about insisting that local school children be given regular servings of mercury-contaminated meat in their lunches?
The local politician, Junichiro Yamashita, who probably has guaranteed the loss of his seat - not to mention virtual shunning of his family by the entire village of Taiji for his whistleblowing actions gets my award for someone with integrity:

If you later hear of this man being stabbed to death, thrown from a building or mysteriously run over by a truck, don't be alarmed. It'll just be the sound of the collective Wa being restored.

If she were a 'real' activist, she would wait until after November 20th then return to Japan to be arrested..

JAPANESE police have issued an arrest warrant for ex-Home and Away star Isabel Lucas for her role in a high-profile protest against the slaughter of pilot whales. Emotional footage of young protesters, including Lucas, made worldwide headlines last week - timed to draw attention to the controversial whaling season which officially began yesterday...Now Lucas and five others, including Heroes actress Hayden Panettierre, have been charged with "interfering with international commerce" after paddling across nets set to herd dolphins and whales to their death near the Japanese village of Taiji.

We Japanese need not to deal with environmetal maddness seriously.
However world blame, we Japanese never quit hunting whales.
Remember that, world.

Just to clarify, I'm not challenging, I'd just be interested in reading the source.

FG Lurker wrote:As far as I understand it though most of the dolphins that they slaughter are not eaten, the meat is destroyed or dumped in a landfill. I have no problem at all with the killing of (non-endangered) animals for food, but killing for the sake of killing bothers me. In human terms I would say it is the same as the difference between killing for self defense and going on a rampage because you're pissed off about something. One is generally justifiable, the other isn't.
Samurai_Jerk wrote:If that's true that is fucked up. But then why do they slaughter them? If it's government subsidies, why not just give them money NOT to kill dolphins?
Samurai_Jerk wrote:Again, you're bringing in another reason why this dolphin kill is bad. However, most people in the west seem to have a moral aversion to the Japanese hunting dolphins and whales. That is what I don't get.

Those men have more integrity in their nail clippings than that fake cunt does in her entire being. Mind your own business Ms. American Actress Crybaby Cunt. I hate these fucking types who have no appreciation for foreign cultures.
