A Japanese girl I know had the shit kicked out of her by the owner of the beauty salon that she worked at. She literally weighs 37 kg and he got mad at her, kicked her so hard she fell down, and continued to kick her repeatedly while she was on the floor. It was so bad she couldn't walk for a couple of days and a coworker came by her place to fix her meals and take care of her while she was recovering.

Now she made the mistake of waiting a few weeks to see the police or talk to a lawyer (I had to talk her into it actually). But she did finally go to the police. She has several witnesses and took pictures of her injuries right after it happened. The cops in her shit town in Aichi said they were very busy so it'd take them at least a month to investigate and get back to her and that the most she could hope for was some money from the guy.

She's also going to take him to civil court, by the way.

She should ask the witnessess to write down what they saw while it is still fresh in their minds, with times/dates recorded, and make sure all the stories are consistent and signed. If she had any medical treatment, she should ask the doctors for the same.

If I were her I'd at least want to see the guy do the perp walk in front of his customers even if I only ended up with some cash in the end.
