1978 CM for Kiyoken shumai

Kiyoken in Yokohama is famous for shumai but the company has just been identified in another mislabelling scandal which has already claimed some of Japan's best-known food manufacturers. The Asahi reports (Japanese) that the Agriculture Ministry this morning ordered Kiyoken to halt production at its facilities in Tokyo and Yokohama.

This one doesn't get me as upset as the other scandals. If I understand correctly, they are accused of listing the ingredients in the improper order on the packaging. It is supposed to be ordered by weight, with ingredients contributing the most weight at the beginning. Apparently they printed several items out of order.

I would raise eye brows if "Ajinomoto (MSG)" was listed as the top ingredient.

The Yomiuri says:

On the ingredients label of the product, the company had to list ingredients in order of quantity but listed scallop ligament second when it should have been listed fifth.

The horror.

I cannot believe they would stand for such a dastardly act. Simply everyone knows that scallop ligament can never be listed higher than fifth!
