LG = "Life's Good" - unless you were this customer:

Exploding mobile kills man: police

An exploding mobile phone battery is suspected to have killed a South Korean worker, although the phone's manufacturer said this was highly unlikely.

The man, identified only by his family name Suh, was found dead at his workplace on Wednesday morning. His mobile phone battery was melted in his shirt pocket, a police official in Cheongwon said.

The Korea Times reported the man worked with an excavator at a stone quarry.

"We presume that the cell phone battery exploded," the police official said on condition of anonymity because the investigation was still under way.

Kim Hoon, a doctor who examined the body, agreed.

"He sustained an injury that is similar to a burn in the left chest and his ribs and spine were broken," Yonhap news agency quoted Kim as saying. "It is presumed that pressure caused by the explosion damaged his heart and lungs, leading to his death."

Kim was not available for further comment.

Police said the phone was made by South Korea's LG Electronics, the world's fifth-biggest handset maker.

An LG official confirmed its product was involved in the accident but said the company would not comment on the incident because the cause was not confirmed.

However, the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to company policy, said such a fatal explosion would be virtually impossible . . . more

And in New Zealand, a re-charging Nokia phone exploded, startling a kiwi man out of his sheep - I mean, sleep.

A loud bang woke Norman Sievewright, from Auckland, in the middle of the night, the website said. He found that his Nokia mobile phone, which had been charging next to his bed, had exploded . . . more

After years of abuse, could the repressed keitai finally be rising up against their human overlords?

And it's not just murder. In New York state, U.S., a cantankerous keitai was directly responsible for 46 humans being incarcerated.

'Exploding phone' death: co-worker confesses

SMH wrote:
What appeared to be a sensational case of a man being killed by an exploding mobile phone has instead turned out to be an attempt to cover up an accidental death.

A co-worker of the man, who told police that he found the 33-year-old lying dead and bleeding from the nose, has now confessed he killed the man, The Korean Times newspaper reported.

. . . Kwon said that he hit the victim, surnamed Seo, while driving his excavator backwards at a stone quarry in South Korea, police told the newspaper . . . more

Well, there goes the keitai conspiracy theory - unless Kwon is their fall guy!

The South Korean phone story seemed pretty fucked from the get-go. The guy had a broken back! Musta been quite the explosion...
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Still, remember the older generation keitai - they were so big you'd hurt your back just lifting them.

That one is tiny! The Motorola "brick", now THAT was a PHONE!

Before that the "bag phones" where you lugged around a 10 pound bag of phone and battery. 3 watts though, so the damn things actually worked -- sort off. ;)

I think I'll keep my Samsung ultra-slim clamshell though.

So you are saying that LG is a better company than Sony? I agree 100% but I have to say that I am surprised to see that in a post from you...
