Trust in TEPCO

Tepco restarts nuclear reactor
The reactor was started up in the evening and is to begin generating electricity in about two days. It will be fully back online in early June following final checks by the government, Tepco officials said.

The officials reported that Tepco found no cracks in the reactor's core shrouds during inspections conducted since January. The nation's largest power company had earlier discovered fractures in some of its reactors' core shrouds but reported it had found none.

But we believe them this time, right?

My only question is, "How cute is the campaign girl for the TEPCO CM"?

The albatross of nuclear power in Japan
The Japan Times: Sunday, June 15, 2003

...According to Tepco, demand will peak in the summer, and in one of their TV spots, they show someone opening a book to a page that reads "1 to 4 p.m.," the period when demand is most likely to peak on a given day....
The campaign targets home consumers, but the real purpose isn't really to convince people to turn off appliances. Home electricity use accounts for about 30 percent of total energy consumption, according to consumer group estimates (Tepco claims it doesn't have such statistics). It's more effective to get industry to cut consumption. The real reason for the campaign is to convince the public that there is a crisis.

...In other words, the ads are mentally preparing the residents of Tokyo for possible blackouts and the media has gone along with the scheme.

Did you guys hear about those rolling blackouts in CA? But they weren't necessary. Someone had inflated the price and duped everyone into thinking there was a shortage. Someone was trying to make some extra cash is all.

Damn Shame.
I will not abide ignorant intolerance just for the sake of getting along.

If the population and economy shrink enough, they could go full green supaaa eco and power everything by an army of hamsters spinning in their wheels.

Will need them nukaplants in operation if they want to make it out of 2030 without becoming a province of China.
