Take A Shower In Your Suit

Postby Mulboyne » Sat Dec 22, 2007 7:07 pm

[floatr]Image[/floatr]Mainichi: Business suit washable in shower to go on sale in Japan
No time to bring your suit to a dry cleaner? Just turn on the shower to wash it at home. Washable suits are already available, but Japanese clothing company Konaka says its "Shower Clean" line of business suits that can be washed in a warm shower and require no ironing is one-of-a-kind. Konaka says the suits -- made of a lightweight fabric easy to clean -- will be available in February in Japan. The firm's Web site shows how to clean them (PDF): Reverse the jacket and pants, put them on clothes hangers and douse with warm water for a few minutes to clean the inside. Repeat the process to clean the outside and drip-dry. Konaka is targeting job-hunting college students who go through a period of job interviews as well as young businessmen living alone, company official Shigeyuki Tsuchiya said. "They often don't have time to take their suit to a dry cleaner and it's difficult for them to iron a wool suit," he said. "Our suit can return to the original shape easily after a shower." The suits, available for both men and women, will be priced between 29,400 yen (US$260) and 55,650 yen (US$492)...more...

I can sympathize with the whole problem of not having time to get to the dry cleaner, but there is no way I'd buy one of those.

It might be useful for a married salaryman coming home with the smell of some hostess lingering on him. "I'm just going to take a shower darling".

Is it just me, or is that material transparent around the shins? I've heard of some materials becoming transparent when photographed by digital cameras (a mainstay of amateur Japanese photographers at the beach), but how thin can that material be to appear that way? If the guy presenting it is wearing one of them, is the one on the dressing dummy a CoolBiz suit?

I've seen super thin summer suits here that show your dress shirt through the back of the coat. It looks like crap.

I wonder what kind of fabric they're using. My guess is you shouldn't smoke when wearing one of these things.
