Housing agencies

Postby maninjapan » Fri Dec 28, 2007 10:01 pm

There doesn't seem to be any stickies for housing agencies or internet sites on here so thought it would be useful to maybe get them here?

I am trying to find a new house, with a view to move in the next 4 months. I have money saved up - however, the problem is that a large dog (a labrador) will be moving in.

Does anyone know of any gaikokujin/dog friendly estate agents?

edit: looking in to move the Yokohama area.
will the last one out please turn the light off.....

I know a lot of places that will allow dogs, but you're asking an awful lot of the landlord to let the dog bring a gaijin with him!

I would recommend contacting Gomi as the resident professional mover, she should have some good contacts!

I had an easy experience finding a place using Yoshizumi Homes. Bring a Japanese friend with you (preferably of the same gender as yourself), when you first go to a fudosan, even if you speak great Japanese, as it seems to legitimize you as a "good gaijin". The agent helping me has a great career padding resumes, "Imagine you did the maximum amount of paid overtime possible, how much would you earn before taxes? Ok, let's write that as your base salary." Gotta tip the scales a bit.
Keep in mind that things get a bit more difficult the closer that you get to April, as that is the new fiscal year/job start season, and finding a place is more competitive than when I was looking for a place (June).
