I'd like to say for the record that I've been a Dandy fan before he got his big break doing the Matsumoto Kiyoshi CM's... he's periodically on Uchimura (of Feels So Nice) Produce.

But he's no Rob Pongi... "Get's!" doesn't come even close to "My name is YEEAAHHHH!"

I'm trying to place Matsumoto Kiyoshi's CM in my mind but when I google that name all I get is photos like this . . .

There have always been attempts to "beat" America by sending a Japanese singer to become popular in U.S. (Like, there was huge investment [like sending entire audiences from Japan] and Matsuda Seiko was sent to win the "singing war" in U.S.A. [but ended up unknown{although she was slightly injured being hit by a car in New York }] ) There has never been a Japanese group or singer that was actually popular in U.S.A except for Shonen Knife (they did a song on a Carpenters tribute album, for example). Apparently they have received a grudgingly belated popularity now in Japan (but not like the fantastic reception Matsuda Seiko would have received if she had "beaten" America [although the car accident was big press in Japan])!
