Japan's prime minister has begun posting English-language messages on the video-sharing Internet site YouTube in an apparent bid to raise his country's international profile.

In his online New Year's message for 2008, Fukuda speaks in English about the challenges facing the world in the coming year and promises to play a leading role in finding solutions.

You're right of course OM, but I do have to give him some credit. He's tried more of these English language spots and appearances then most of the former PM's and for that matter, any of the opposition. However, he's going to need Rots of Ruck to sell his sincerity (which may or may not exist).

I do agree.. just thought the topic needed a healthy dose of cynicism. We can't just let him off the hook and give him credit for making an honest effort. That would be un-FG-like!

You're probably right again. I just thought it would be nice to give an A for effort, seeing that he's still dealing with left overs in the cabinet. I guess we should at least wait for the first two or three cabinet members to get brought up on charges for graft, before we really get on him. Figuring that since he's LDP, that should only take about two or three more months....

No, I know they were serving them up at Yoshinoya, but I've kinda sworn off prions, as I'm kinda sick of having all these mixed insoluble beta-sheets in my head.
