Football Star Nakamura Says Italy Is Racist

Postby Mulboyne » Sat Jan 12, 2008 1:06 pm

AFP: Italian racism discourages Japanese, says Nakamura
Japan star Shunsuke Nakamura has blasted Italian football for its racism in an interview published on the official UEFA website. Nakamura played for Reggina for three seasons before joining Celtic in 2005, where he has established himself as one of the stars of the team. But in his UEFA interview, Nakamura talks about the difficulties of adapting to the move from east to west. "It's very difficult for a Japanese player coming to Europe," said Nakamura. "There are so many factors in different countries, ranging from the style of play to the obvious cultural differences. "Sometimes you get racism as well, not in Scotland, but in Italy, which is not nice, and that probably explains why so few Japanese players have made it here"...more...

Give me a break! Yes there is racism in Italy and Europe against Japanese, but it is a small fraction compared to the racism that Italians and other Europeans like myself experience in Japan. And at least both Italy and the European Union have decent anti-discrimination legislation, regulations, and policies. Here in Japan, foreigners do not have any legal protection.

Heck, after a few years of living in Italy, he could become an Italian citizen, without marriage, but it is impossible for an Italian to get Japanese citizenship without marriage regardless of how many years they live in Japan.

I bet if he, or any other Japanese, bought property in Rome Italy, he would not experience this:
[YT]RtHrVcefWlo[/YT]
which is even worse since it occurs with the full co-operation of the local authorities including the police.

What a friggin pussy. I've lived in both countries as an ex-pat myself, and I'll say bluntly that Japan is one of the most racist countries on the planet. What you get is largely passive aggres bull*. But its there in every ste you take. Italians, on the other hand, are most truly honest with their feelings - I guess most Japanese would call this 'racist' - since they rarely express or otherwise have a problem discussing or displaying their real personna or feelings to anyone. (Honne). Idiot that Nakamura is -- he took the money, played the game, so he should just friggin shuddup.

Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

Are you Asian? Or Caucasian? There is a huge difference there. I agree Italians are racists. But whether Japanese are racists is not the point. He is making a statement about Italians that is correct and widely known. Refute it if you can but saying 've lived in both places and blah blah blah doesn't cut it.

Too often with Japan we are reminded of the boy who cried wolf but to defend this Japanese guy I think he could be right. I think somebody that takes a nazi/mussolini banner to a soccer match is most likely a racist, if he's Italian then he happens to be an Italian racist.

That stuff is just there to stir up ethic tensions, I doubt you'd get away with that kind of shit in America or any other country that respects its minorities.

What the hell are you talking about? DrP is right. I know for a fact that Japanese people get a far better deal (in Italy) than the average Italian guy in Japan.

I know exactly what I'm talking about. This thread is about Italian racists not Japanese. He is not saying that Italians are more or less racists than Japanese. So stick to the argument at hand.

I disagree. There is an old saying "If you live in a glass house, you should not throw stones.".

In this thread many of us simply think that he does not have the right to complain solely about racism experienced by Japanese, without also criticising the far far worse racism committed by Japanese.

It would be like a German in 1939 complaining about discrimination they experienced in the lowest east-side of Manhattan New York City (Jewish Quarter).

Personally, I wish that Japanese would give me even just half of the legal anti-discrimination protection and human rights that he got in Italy.

Yeah, J-authority must build gaijin's rights protection law.
But unfortunately we Japanese will discriminate gaijins within the law!

Take, I read what you wrote in Japanese earlier - that you would support a Japanese anti-discrimination law protecting the rights of foreigners because it would justify discrimination committed by Japanese bigots as long as such discrimination were permitted within the framework of law. In your logic, foreigners wouldn't be able to argue against legally permitted discrimination. But why do you think discrimination at all is justifiable? Just because it happens in foreign countries? Wouldn't it be better to advocate for no discrimination anywhere? What you are talking about is enacting a law permitting discrimination just out of spite.

No Bird, its not spite. It's because of the case of short dickitis that he contracted by sitting in front of the computer all day reading 2channel, while being sustained only by anime, cup noodles and certain selected inflatable goods.

Going back to Nakamura's comment, it is unclear whether he is saying Italy is a racist country or Italian football is racist. The latter is still a controversial statement but UEFA has taken action against some national teams where supporters have shouted racist taunts at rival teams. Some supporters in Eastern Europe have thrown bananas at black players during international matches. There have been violent crowd incidents at some Italian matches so I'm sure it's not sweetness and light. It certainly isn't at Celtic either. Things are relatively peaceful in Scotland right now but the rivalry between Protestant Rangers and Catholic Celtic was one of the fiercest in sport, particularly during the worst years of the Troubles in Ireland.

About Take:
"But why do you think discrimination at all is justifiable?" er.... cause hes Japanese!! and everything he ever posts in racist shit anyway...why even bother?

About Jack:
He has a point but then again Japan IS the only country he can get pussy so its natural he would defend it!

About Nakas comments:
It always make me laugh when Japanese complain about racism...it's ALWAYS about THEM they couldn't give a fuck about what other minorities experience abroad or stand up for them because they don't like minorities in their own country...but if they experience it...oh its terrible.

The truth is japanese want SPECIAL TREATMENT more than anyone else, and sook like fucking babies when they don't get it.

Lets not forget Japanese have set up stores for "japanese only" in foreign countries for fuck sake!! think of that when you look at that youtube link and it all makes sense.

Blackcat, are you finished? Can I talk now?

About your attribution to me. You are almost correct but I used to get the J-pussies outisde of Japan. But I'll grant that to you.

Pleeeeeeease someone tell me how are you discriminated in Japan? I hear a lot of baby talk by FG in Japan about this and please do give me some examples. Because to tell the truth, other than by taxi drivers (which by the way I have not experienced this in three years) I have never ever been refused service or served rudely by anyone. Seeing some of the loser gaijins in Japan, I can understand 100% if there are issues with renting apartments. If I was a landlord in Japan I would do the same because many FG are unreliable. So talking about crybabies, let's start with you guys living in Japan.

You are so full of shit when you state that Japanese want special treatment. Are you fucking kidding me? DO YOU KNOW ANYONE ON EARTH WHO WANTS SPECIAL TREATMENT MORE THAN WHITE ENGLISH SPEAKING PEOPLE? Get real bud.

Yes Japanese companies have setup stores abroad for their own kind. So what? Mitsukoshi has a store in Paris for Japanese tours. Scoodly fuckin dooo. That doesn't prove anything.

Although you are right that Westerners are guilty of racism and discrimination, it's really not Japan's job to put whitey in his place and to "teach" him about racism. Japan has a chance to show the world that it is better than that. If Japan has a more enlightened policy than the US, don't you think the US would feel ashamed? Instead you want Japan to participate in the very activity you think is wrong in the first place. That makes no sense.

By the way, quit saying "hakujin yarou". You wouldn't want us to call you "fuckin' Jap" would you?
