Thanks to all those who helped with my last post.

I've done a search but couldn't find anything on this subject (although it seems weird that this hasn't been covered before).
Does anyone know of any Japanese banks which will let you have an account in foreign funds, specifically Canadian dollars?
The situation is, I'm trying to get my long time J-girlfriend to come over to Canada with a student visa but she doesn't have the required savings in her bank account (apparently they want the equivalent of $10000 Canadian for a 1 year visa). So next time I go there I will be bringing the 5 grand or so to put in her bank account. That's not the problem, the question is is there any way to avoid having to change that money twice? Looking at the exchange rates, I'd be losing 15% of 5000 bucks which....is a heck of a lot of money to throw away.
By the way, I thought of having her open an account for her here before she arrives, but Canadian banks won't allow anyone to open a bank account unless they are there in person, nor will they allow me to open a joint account with her name.
Anyone know any way around this?
