Howdy all,

Im Luke just another completey f*cked gaijin and im making the big move over to Japan on March the 1st. Been there last year to stay with D1 Drifter mates and play with drift cars etc. Im going back because i fell in love with the country and i want to make a life for myself over there.

Im currently in New Zealand right now waiting for my Visa to go through, had to fly from Australia just to hand in some bloody forms its so stupid!

I dont expect it to be a dreamland and i will take the highs with lows, shit happens its life, but i will not let anyone stop me!

Look forward to meeting up with some of you when i get to Japan for a good feed and some drinks.

Remember : ch-ch-ch-check yourself before you wreck yourself!

DUDE!
That tattoo makes me wish I could get tattoos (I see no point for a black man to get a tattoo that won't show up so well.)

That is really impressive work.

Very nice. I love the Japanese style tattoos. I know they are popular right now, but do you ever get any crap for being a white guy with Japanese ink? I'm assuming you're white.

Hey AO, have you considered having it done in Neon? You'd be the hit of Roppongi when you get back this summer!

Hey,

I have had one person try and give me crap about it, saying im trying to be Japanese etc. But the thing is Japanese are not huge on tattoo's to begin with so its one of the most non-Japanese things to do.

I love the Japanese style of tattoos it just so happens the objects i wanted were Japanese aswell. I mean its not the typical cherry blossom etc, its a Japanese Maple tree with all the leafs flying around blah blah i wont go into it all. Still need to get it all finished!

It has deep meaning towards my family and friends and the attuide i should have in life etc. So no matter what anyone says i just laugh at them.

The Japanese maple tree is the strongest maple tree on earth so that represents my family and friends. The leafs are like my life, no matter where i go in life the maple tree which is my family and friends will always be there for me etc the leafs will grow back.

The Koi fish traditionally means being brave and having strengh because they transform into dragons. The lotus leafs in the water around the Koi are there to protect the Koi and give it shelter.

The Geisha girl represents people in general and girls. No matter how pure and nice they may look on the outside you have no idea what their really like until you get to know them. Their are so many false people and life is far to short to waste your time on them. Never settle for people who dont show you the same respect or love as you show them etc. So thats the Geisha covered.

The moon is like a fresh start and looking forward to a new beginning. Every day will always bring a fresh night and a fresh moon, so look forward to it and go forwards in life not backwards.

The whole tattoo is set in an autumn theme environment, hence why the leafs are coloured in red. The whole tattoo is not finished yet and the red is just the outline, they will end up being the autumn oranges, yellows and reds etc when done.

Thats a breif run down as i spent ages writing it out then i hit refresh by accident!!!

Cool backstory, make sure you post a pic of it with the leaves filled in, it sounds like it will look pretty sick.

Northern Californians (NoCals) say "hella" and date granola girls named Morning Glory who have hairy armpits, wear Birkinstocks, as their foot sweat makes the muchroom spores in the Birkinstocks sprout. SoCals are only concerned about when the guy is gonna show up to repair the jacuzzi.

first off, nice ink.. with that much i can see a lot of problems if you want to go to any of the family onsen/sento. i know it was for me.

Minihux wrote:But the thing is Japanese are not huge on tattoo's to begin with so its one of the most non-Japanese things to do.

well, i dont know how getting a bunch of japanese images tattooed on your back is being 'one of the most non-japanese things to do', but i understand what you are getting at.. while small decorative tattoos are seen around a bit, big ones like what youve got are pretty rare, but that said, if you go into tattoo shops, you will see people who are severely into tats. people that would make your formidable work look like it has only begun (which, i dont know, maybe it has!.. you going to add more to that?)

also, on the subject of japanese style tattoos in japan, many japanese people that i have talked to think that a japanese tattoo on a foreigner is 'dasai' (unfashionable).. my friend never let me get bamboo tattooed until the week before i left japan, when she finally introduced me to her friend that did it for really cheap (and really good if you are interested in a good tat shop in tokyo, go to crystal skull in koenji)... but, it sounds like you are already accustomed to people criticizing your tattoos, so my recommendation is to use your most gutteral yakuza voice and yell "me kande shine!" whenever you catch someone staring at your ink (as far as i am aware, this will only work in wakayama/kansai area.. it will only produce looks of puzzlement from stuck-up kantonians).

Hey,

Yeah that’s only the start, it has much more detail and work to go. Sadly it won’t be finished before I leave Australia but I am not too worried, I have plenty of time to get it finished.

Personally my tattoos are not really there to be a fashion statement. But now days it seems a lot of people are getting them for that reason, to each there own. But I think clothes are for fashion not a tattoo that’s on your body for life. Unlike clothes you can’t change it or take it off when the fashion trends change.
