Philippine Daily Enquirer: Japanese child rape convict deported
The Bureau of Immigration on Friday has deported a Japanese national convicted and jailed for raping an eight-month-old girl in Parañaque City more than six years ago. Immigration Commissioner Marcelino Libanan said Yukitoshi Matsushita, 71, was deported pursuant to a summary deportation order issued February 21, 2002. He explained the deportation order could not be served at the time because the rape case was being tried. The Japanese has also been placed on the immigration blacklist and banned from re-entering the Philippines, Libanan added. "We have decided to immediately deport him because he is an undesirable alien who does not deserve the privilege to remain in the Philippines any longer," Libanan said in a statement. The Immigration chief said Matsushita was turned over to his agency by the Bureau of Corrections after the Japanese was released recently from the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa City after he was granted conditional pardon. Matsushita was sentenced to 10 to 14 years in prison for raping and sexually abusing the niece of his live-in partner in Sucat, Parañaque on October 1, 2001...more...
I hope it was just Matsushita's age that encouraged the Philippines to dump him back in Japan. While it gets them off the hook for paying for him to be in prison, justice doesn't really get served if he needs to get a pardon to be deported.
