It wasa about the first time I have bothered to watch the finale of a grand sumo tourament in about 5 or 6 years.

A perfect example of why I've never really been able to get into sumo.

Pomp and circumstance before the match: 2mins 22 seconds

Match itself: 1min 48 seconds?

That ratio is actually pretty good; the matches are usually shorter.. But I rarely watch only one match.. And the last match has the longest hype.

I think Sumo is great to have on in the background. I have the audio going through my stereo while I surf, clean, sleep, or putter on the weekends. It's grown on me, and the match in this thread was a great one..

Yes indeed. Sumo is comfortable to listen to. It's the ritual of the thing.

Even if you don't understand Japanese, you KNOW when the real match is about to start by the ritual.

I miss NHK for Sumo.

Yeah, that was sort of on my mind when I wrote the post. This being a fairly long match, it is still much to short to hold my attention.

I've been to see sumo in ryogoku twice now, and I swear some of the matches I would have missed if I blinked :D
