Petrolhead Pics

Postby Minihux » Thu Feb 07, 2008 9:20 am

Howdy,

Anyone else here enjoy photography? I look forward to getting into it more seriously when I move to Japan in the coming weeks.

None of these photos are any good, they were taken with a low quality camera and were more or less just quick holiday snap shots. In the future I will get myself some good equipment and take some nicer shots.

All of the photos below that feature orange cars are my close friends (professional D1 drivers) in Japan who im going to live with.

This post is way to heavy for the front page, particularly since it's basically a self-promotional advertisement. It makes the FG home page take about 45 seconds to load via my T1.

In the future, you might consider posting ONE pic in the first post in the thread, and then post the rest inside the thread, where people can see them after clicking through.

Hey,

I am friends with all the "Team Geki" guys, Hoshino, Murayama, KanKan etc. Hoshino runs his own company called Hoshino Car Style, recently just completed a JZX100 for Real Dream who had it at there stand at Auto Salon.

Really are some of the most genuine and honest people I have ever meet in my life. I can’t wait to be back and see them, along with a heap load of $5 tracks days at Nikko with my JZX100!!!

If I can stay in Japan long enough my goal is to get my D1 Street Legal license. Hoshino said it takes them 2 years to pump out D1 drivers, so I hope to achieve my goal. It’s nothing great but something I would love to achieve.

Here is a bit of footage of me rocking Ebisu with a bog stock SR20DE S14. Only mods were a strut brace and locked diff, all standard suspension. I found it a bit hairy to chuck around at 120k's in 3rd gear at North course!! Hoshino gave it to us for free to smash up.

I will be starting up a car parts export company and keeping my web design business running as well.

Where are you located in Japan?

Suzuka is my local circuit.

Will be going to Nikko and Ebisu as much as possible. Place is dead in the weekdays so good for lots of track time.

Yeah, I love Nikko and Ebisu. Suzuka, I was not to keen on that place. Went there for D1 last year as pit crew for Murayama, the track was really nice but.

Well sorry to say due to my rep on this forum, but you will be seeing me at Nikko and Ebisu a lot. My JZX100 will slowly turn orange over time as well. My friend Taki (Tailgate) will be going back to Nayoya in March I believe, he use to do a lot of street drift.

You been to many of the touge's around Gunma? There are many touge's which range from 1st - 3rd gear then some 4th - 5th gear touge's which I got to experience while I was there.

You're a member on Drift Works UK aren’t you?

The reason it loads quickly for you is because you have the pictures cached. Everyone else has to sit through the tedious load time of your tedious snapshots.

I have never before seen anyone post 17 pictures at once to the FG front page. It is extremely discourteous to force people to download 2.9Mb of your snapshots every time they load the FG front page... PARTICULARLY since most of that 2.9Mb is rescaled and is not shown on the front page at your original size. And MORE particularly, since your snapshots are crap.

What you could do to avoid this problem:
1. As I previously suggested, post ONE pic in the thread starter, and post the rest inside the thread, where your snapshots will only be inflicted on those who chose to view the thread.
2. Downsize the pics and use more extreme jpeg compression (this would be best applied with option #1).
3. Post them to a forum that doesn't hit the front page.

But I figure you'll choose option 4,

4. Defend your discourteous actions, treat this site like it was your ashtray, and give further evidence to make people believe you, like all your countrymen, don't care about anyone but yourself.

Excuse me I am not sure what you mean by thread starter? Do you mean post one picture in my first post then in the next post attach all my images?

There is no need to be a Nazi about it, I am trying to understand what you mean because in every other forum I post pictures in there are no issues.

That is correct.

But it's too late now. It appears that a moderator chose Option 3 for you, your post was moved off the front page, to a different forum.

Personally, I would have preferred you to pick one of two other options:

5. Buy a FG banner ad for your promotional activities (like some other FG users do).
6. Don't post your blurry, crooked, overexposed, and poorly framed snapshots at all.

Luke mate....you are making more enemies than friends here!!! I'm only trying to help...let me offer you some free advice.

This site is called FuckedGaijin.com. It's a site for foreigners interested in Japan who are fucked in the head. So obviously you qualify beyond doubt for membership. You will notice, however, it is not called "Fucked Petrolhead Snapsnots.com"

Save your slide night for others. Just a hint, take it or leave it.....OFF.

Im not promoting anything in here!!!

I fixed the issue you were having Charles so top having a cry. If everyone cared about what others think no one would do anything in this world.

How about instead of posting negative comments you just try to help?
Im new to this forum so i don't know how this front page stuff works etc. And i never knew i couldn't post up my interests on here.

Hi all,

Just a quick note to suggest that if you are not wanting anything on the front page, you can always check the box under the posting window that says "not news". This means your post stays in the forum but is not displayed on the front page.

Luke - your photos are fine. Just click the not news link if you have lots and lots of them.

Charles - get off that high horse of yours and be friendly.

Let me ask you a question, GG.

When was the last time you posted snapshots of some party at Araku to the front page, with 17 pics totaling 2.9Mb, all of them labeled to promote your bar? Never? What, you actually buy banner ads on FG?

Personally, I love photography. I have a BFA degree in photography. I am a photographer. Photography is art. These snapshots aren't art. Nobody would look at them if they weren't interested in cars. IMHO, nobody should force these pictures on anyone by posting them to the front page en masse. Apparently my opinion is considered correct by an FG moderator, as this thread has been moved TWICE now.

Stop bitching Charles, if you don't want to wait for your shit connection to load the pics then here's a tip:

Press "Back" on your browser.

This has the added advantage of the rest of us not having to be annoyed by your inane tantrums about something that is essentially your own fault.

Pics loaded quickly for me, and I liked looking at them after a hard day's work. Moar! :D

Minihux/Doricar,

You are welcome to post your pics in the forums. Charles is not a mod here and, moreover, has a bizarre anti-Aussie fixation. His opinions do not represent the opinions of the majority of the members on this board.

GG is right that the recommended solution is to just click "not news" before you post. That takes care of the load time issue on the front page and allows you to post all of your photos in a single post instead of breaking them up between two posts (although you can break up the pics between two posts as well if you want).

Post away guys!

Thanks Gomi / Kamome for help!

I now know post these threads up correctly, i was not aware i was doing posting them wrong. Hopefully i will update this thread with more pictures as time goes on, not just car ones. These images were taken using a simple Digital Handicam nothing great. So sorry for quality etc.

I to also studied Photography but im no expert, please feel free Charles to put some of your photos on here as i would be interested to see yours?
I love the notion of a picture can tell a thousand words so please anyone with snapshots feel free to post them up.

The one of my "gay boyfriends" is actually Hoshino (D1 Driver) and my best friend Aaron, we were climbing these crazy mountains in Gunma a couple months back.

Hey Luke,

Yeah I'm in Driftworks UK. I'm from England.

Doricar is kinda dead now but it's a club I started in 2000. Was first drift club in the UK and I was the first person to organise drift events. Won the UK D1 in 2003 and since then I've not done a lot. Won a few one off small comps and mainly done lots of judging. Did Drift Australia judging last year at Eastern Creek.

I'll come up and check out this touge when I've got a car with shaken :)

I will stay in contact!
