China and Japan Relations

I had a chat with a Chinese lady recently and she was telling me about how Chinese people hate Japan and blah blah blah. Of course not all Chinese hate Japan given their infatuation with all things Japanese but I'm sure many do.

My issue is this: I think Chinese people are targeting the wrong "thing" to hate. They should hate their own government not Japan. Mao and his stupid policies killed more people than Japanese soldiers.

They constantly tell that the Japanese government is denying war attrocities. That's so horseshit. The Chinese government is denying its own attrocities, not Japan. Everyone in the world knows what Japan did and that has amply been condemned and Japan has appologised many times. Yeah Japanese school books do not talk about the attrocities and so they should not. No country writes the crimes it committed in other countries in its textbooks.

This is a long story but I kind of have enough of China's newfound desire to rewrite and rewrite and rewrite history to suit their current political and economic agenda.

the latest issue of the economist actually has an article on this. they compare compensation Germany gave out and Japan after WWII and found that basically the Japanse are cheap-skates and then to make matters worse most of the companies that have been sued by Chinese or Korean families of survivors or former slaves have put up some well... let's just revisionist histories of Japan (mitsubishi apparently argued in court that Japan never invaded China). Anyway, apparently many Japanese companies' Chinese offices are overflowing with lawsuits as Chinese who have been defeated in Japanese court and now sueing Japanese companies in China. While Japan paid compensation to countries and it's companies helped finance everything from Hyundia to Lotte (started in Japan by a Korean) and Samsung (and now Samsung is helping Sony... ahh the irony) in Korea they've done dick all to offer anything to the Chinese and have paid no reparitions to any of their slabe labor wether korean, chinese, of U.S. POWs (yeah they tried too). While I agree the continued bitterness of Chinese and Korean strikes me more as nationalist fanfare and envy than an actual call to morals Japan has a long way to go in admitting to it's past and the sums it reaped from it.

Germany does and despite much belief to the contrary U.S. text books do go into the trail of tears and other attrocities committed against native americans and also the bombing of Hiroshima and the detention camps for Asians during WWII etc. Of course post-Wilsonian American foreign policy has added troves of new attrocities (and some successes we did stop the genocide of the kurds after all etc.) which will probably make it into textbooks soon.

Also, is it just me or do most Japanese want to acknowledge their past etc.?

Fucking right China's system was brutal, they had a dictatorship, Mao was a mean fucker and they killed their own people...but that's China's business, Chinese cruetly was on the Chinese... you can't say somebody is taking a just stance in Yasukuni because China was once upon a time bad to its own folk. We may aswell say the Europeans were right to kill those North American red-skins because once upon a time those 'savage dudes' killed their own folk with arrows or took scalps.
There is a difference between the North American invasion analogy and that is unlike the Whites beating the native red-skins and admitting to the cruelty and injustice - the Japanese failed to beat China, and got more brutal the more Chinese tried to defend itself. Although we would like to blame everything naughty on Mao and some would like to kiss the KMTs ass we must also take note of the fact that many deaths in China were due to outside interference, sanctions from the West, CIA ops into China, economic embargoes. The China madness probelm is mostly an inside one, the Chinese didn't attack Africa, or invade Peru, or kill some Egyptians....so the whole thing is an internal issue.

Japan on the other hand was an imperial nazi fucker, and Japanese issues were both internal and external they tortured Aussies, made Okinawans jump of cliffs in suicide rather than give up to the USA, took Taiwanese sex slaves, murdered Koreans, ordered young Jpaanese to be kamikaze suicide bombers, done live experiments on Asian villagers, killed Vietnamese, worked Canadians to death in camps and done horrible shit that even shocked the German Nazis and then you have fuckheads like Tokyo mayor Shintaro causing more shit.

Another reason why Japan shouldn't insult the Taiwanese ex slaves, Korean-gov, or Chinese, is that China if it wanted to - could wipe Japan off the fucking map in seconds and I'm not even sure if GW or Kissinger is willing to defend Nippon from getting a beating, they have their own trouble in the Middle East and don't have time to baby-sit Asians no more.

Japan didn't do more to others than it did to itself. Read some history. Soldiers killing each other not to surrender or eating each other on isolated islands where they were abandoned. Millions of Japanese civilians abandoned in Russia when troops pulled out and so on. The Japanese government did not value the life of a Japanese more than it valued any other life. The generals in Tokyo were fucked up and they got punished after the war. Just think of how many of their daughters and sisters were banged by American soldiers during the occupation. McCarthur said that only 2 days after Japan surrendered he could see soldiers and J-chicks copulating in the ruins. It could have been the daughter of the fucking generals for all I know and that should be punishment enough

The cruelty and suffering inflicted on non-Japanese was entirely another level of depravity, they used chemical or biological WMDs on Asians, had beheading contests on Australian soldiers, raped young ones and old Koreans to death, butchered Jewish people in Hong Kong, experimented on living people with anthrax and plagues, did the Alexandra Hospital massacre...you name it they done it and the war crimes Japan did even shocked the German Nazis.


There are many articles and recent news items on this but as I said before Japan is acting like a dumb fuck trying to piss the Asians off, because China could wipe Honshu off the fucking map in seconds and I don't think Bush would give a fuck about it anymore ( from a cold military and economic standpoint there is more to be gained from a China friendship than a Japan one ).

JAPAN School's educational materials blocked
TOKYO — A school for Japanese residents of Shanghai has been blocked from importing educational materials since last month, likely because certain books contain a map indicating that the Senkaku Islands, over which China claims sovereignty, belong to Japan, The Yomiuri Shimbun, a Japanese newspaper, reported.
According to sources, about 800 items related to geography and other subjects were to have been imported from Japan for the Pudong branch of the Shanghai Japanese School.
But when the goods, which arrived at Shanghai Port on Jan. 29, were inspected by Chinese customs, officials found "problems" in some of the materials and would not allow them to be dispatched to the school, the sources said.

Probably some home economic books too saying Chinese gyoza were not good and you should make your own.
