Great way to jump on the Anime bandwagon. I don't like this style. The original comic book style was what set it apart from what's popular now. ugh.

Actually, there was a Batman manga made in Japan for Japanese readers. I'm not really into that kind of stuff, so I don't know the details, but a friend of mine showed it to me after he bought a copy at Book Off. The atwork looked pretty cool. I wonder if that's what inspired this.

BTW, that video is so fucking boring I couldn't finish watching it.

Urgh, they turned Bruce Wayne feminine. What is it with Japan's obsession with girly looking heroes?! They can't be tough, macho, and sporting a 5 o'clock shadow, instead they have to be well manicured, delicate, and have a pointy, bishonen nose. Fuck me...

Thanks for the heads up though, TC.

Well, what I like about Batman is that there are really so many different versions of him, like the original Bob Kane version, Adam West, the Burton movies. So the idea of Japanese artists taking a crack at Bats is really interesting. From the looks of the preview, it seems each segment has it's own approach.

I sincerly hope you're right. Was never that keen on Adam West's Batman personally, the Dark Knight just never felt right as a campy boy scout if you know what I mean, metrosexual even less so.

Have you read The Dark Knight Returns? That's some dark stuff.

Or DK2? (DK2 is The Dark Knight Returns 2) DK2 is weird and graphic. There is a Supergirl who is the child of Wonder Woman and Superman. Batman kicks Supes ass so bad that Wonder Woman asks him about his daughter and then their own relationship.

"Where is the hero who threw me to the ground and took me as his rightful prize?" Where is the god whose passion shattered a mountaintop?"

You may not like Frank Miller's style, but it's violent as all get out.

Yep, read that and loved it, though at times it feels like I've been the only one on the internet that did. Americans in attendence may have to pardon my language here, I'm sorry, but Bruce Wayne can be a right cunt sometimes. That arse whopping he handed out to Superman was the stuff of legend hehe.

Shame On Warner Bros. And Bruce Timm

Postby Hokgwai » Wed Feb 27, 2008 5:22 pm

I really hate saying this, because I do like Japanese animation somewhat---but this "Anime Batman" looks like total garbage. That androgynous, SMAP-reject version of Bruce Wayne was a waste of drawing paper.

Furthermore I don't know what's so hot about an "Anime Batman" when WB and Bruce Timm had been OUTSOURCING the original Batman animated series out to Japan and Korea for YEARS anyway!!

With a dark shadow looming over traditional 2D animation in the US (thanks to flavor of the month CG animation) Bruce Timm and WB should have thrown that project to some American 2D animators. Goodness knows that they need the work.

Bruce Timm...WB....Shame on you. This is just another nail in the coffin for traditional 2D animation in the USA. Thanks for nothin'.
