World On Demand

Postby maninjapan » Wed Mar 05, 2008 9:01 am

Just been reading through this week's Metropolis and saw an advetr for this company WorldOnDemand. Seems to be an internet company that allows residents in Japan to watch satelliate TV on their PC.

Has anyone ever used this company before as they seem much cheaper than SkyPerfect at the moment?

will the last one out please turn the light off.....

Everything is cheaper than skyperfect. ;)

I don't have WOD but my friend does. It seems they just scroll through the menu list or search for stuff via genre, name or other criteria, select a show/movie then play it on demand. You can use it like a DVD player - eg pause, fast forward, rewind etc. Connection is via a fibre internet connection such as B-Flets and it is an additional monthly charge.

I have 4th Media - cable TV over fibre. using the Assist Solutions.* Highly recommend these guys as they are all in English, will come and set up everything (for a fee) and show you how everything works and has a good support team.

Again an additional charge onto of regular broadband fees but I like this system as there are no silly satellite dishes etc. We get a TV program book once a month and we get most of the same channels as Sky Perfect - probably a few less but we tend to only switch between the same handful of channels anyway. On ours we also have the option of extra pay-per-view on demand, karaoke and other things that I have never bothered with. We just get the basic package and there are lots of other channels that we don't pay for - eg Star Channels, porn etc.

* I am in no way associated with this company other than as a happy customer. ;)
